This includes news articles, reviews, casting announcements, photo galleries, and message board posts. To isolate message board discussions: * Execute your initial search using your desired keywords. * Once the results page loads, look for the filtering options or tabs. * Select the "Message Board" or "Forum" filter to exclude editorial articles and display only user-generated threads. ## Using Google Search for Advanced Queries
The built-in search engine on large forums can sometimes return a broad list of results that are difficult to sort through. Using a major search engine like Google with advanced search operators is often the fastest and most precise way to find specific BroadwayWorld discussions. ### The Site-Specific Search Operator You can instruct Google to only display search results from the BroadwayWorld message board by using the `site:` operator. To do this, type the following into the Google search bar: `site:broadwayworld.com/board [your search terms]` For example, if you want to find discussions about the set design of a specific show, you would search: `site:broadwayworld.com/board "Hadestown" set design`
### Exact Phrase Matching If you are looking for a specific thread title, a particular actor, or a specific quote, place the terms in quotation marks. ### Main Board vs. Student Board BroadwayWorld splits its discussions into two primary sections: * **The Main Board:** This is the primary hub for general theatre discussions, Broadway news, West End productions, national tours, and industry trends. * **The Student Board:** This section is dedicated to high school, college, and educational theatre topics, including audition advice, college theatre programs, and amateur licensing questions. ### Sorting and Scanning Threads By default, threads on the message boards are sorted chronologically by the date of the most recent reply. If a thread receives a new comment, it moves to the top of the first page. You can scan the first few pages of the board to see what topics are currently trending in the community. ## Finding Your Own Posts and Tracked Threads If you are a registered member of the BroadwayWorld community, you can easily locate discussions you have previously participated in or threads you want to follow.
### User Profile Search Once logged into your account, click on your username to access your profile. From there, you can view a history of the threads you have started, as well as a list of individual posts you have made in other discussions. ### Subscribing to Threads To avoid searching for the same thread repeatedly, you can bookmark or subscribe to active discussions. This feature allows you to receive notifications when other users reply, keeping you updated on the conversation without requiring manual searches.
